The way I am

If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I'd find a match.

Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I'll make it better.

Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I'd buy you Rogaine if you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

The way I am

2. I chose this song because I really like the way it's just a sweet song about love. It's not over the top, but I really like the line "Cuz I love the way you say goodmorning, and you take me the way I am". It's one of the little things that really makes a person fall in love.

3. The line "you take me the way I am" is repeated throughout the song, and is really what it's about. The person she's in love with just takes her the way she is, which is simple but really makes a relationship complete.

4. Comment on the author's use of poetic devices. Identify two devices such as metaphor, alliteration, personification, imagery, and consonance, and point out where the author uses them. Then comment on how they influence the poem. Do they create an emphasis on a certain word or words? Do they focus the reader's attention on an image? Do they create a feeling within the poem?

5. The tone of this song is very upbeat, and genuine. It talks about the little things that people do for each other when they're in love. Sacraficing your own warmth for the one you love. Just little things.
